theres actually a lot of regrowth in the area, and its only been 8 years. i was in college when it happened, these are the mountains behind my hometown, and i havent lived there since, so i still can't quite get used to seeing it.
its amazing how ... destructive these things are. this fire literally spread out over 48,000 acres. it started as a controlled burn, it was a complete disaster. still, the mountains are recovering really well. you can trust the desert to bounce back after things like this.
Whoa, that's quite the chunk of land.. Yeah, controlled fire, that's what happened over here too, started out as controlled, and ended by taking nearly half a city, and a lot of forest.
